Movie Night: Don’t Look in the Basement (1973)

Tonight I got the urge to re-watch one of my fave cult horror flicks, and I figured, why not share it with all of you.

Don’t Look in the Basement is a largely forgotten yet morbidly mesmerizing little indie horror about a small, experimental asylum and its assortment of patients, which are (for the most part) incurable in their insanity. Despite featuring a cast of relative unknowns and being shot on what looks like a home movie camera (did they even have those in 1973), the movie feels strangely genuine. More than likely because the actors portraying the inmates give their all to their performances, and I do mean ALL, it’s balls to the wall crazies, and I’m sure any one of these performers could easily be mistaken for an actual lunatic (Harriet is my fave).

This fun little flick is a definite must watch for any fan of 70’s cult cinema, so check it out horror fans, and let me know in the comments what you thought of Don’t Look in the Basement…and do give a girl a hand by clicking Like below 😉
